Madhuri Dixit was born in the Maharastrian Family in Mumbai itself. Her father name was Shankar and her mother was Snehlata Dixit. Her primary name was Madhuri Shankar Dixit. She was given the knowledge of all kinds of Marathi culture and tradition. Most of all, her education was also happened in good schools and colleges. After completing her schooling, she took admission in Mumbai University to be a Microbiologist. She was also much trained dancer for Kathak and admired that dance as well.
Madhuri Dixit’s career was started with her first film with Rajshree Productions, Abodh. After this, she came on the track where no stoppages were observed for the next one decade. She gave blockbuster films like Tezaab, Hum Apke Hain Kaun, Khalnayak, Dil To pagal Hai, Ram Lakhan, 100 Days, Devdas, Pukar and many more. Apart from her successful career in films for a long time, she also won various awards and accreditations. She won 11 awards of high category and she was also nominated for 26 times. In the year 2000, she was voted as the Best Actress of the Millennium. In 2003, she won Best Actress from See News. According to source of Guinness World Records, she was the highest paid Indian Actress of her time. Not only have the national awards who also won international wards like BBC poll for the best actress. She was the loving actress of bollywood and she was having large number of fan following than any other actors. She was also having a good reputation in the industry. Ram Gopal Verma was so acknowledged by her that he made a film in which he had given the title, Main Madhuri Dixit Banana Chahti Hun.
She was married to Shriram Madhav Nene, who also belongs to the Marathi Brahmin family and he is the cardiovascular surgeon and practiced in Denver, USA. After marriage, Madhuri Dixit settled in Denver itself and now in 2011, she came back to relocate her once again in Mumbai.
She is the Ek-Do-Teen girl and Dhak-Dhak diva who has allured our hearts with her stellar performance in numerous successful films. After 25 years and with two kids Madhuri Dixit still captivates the audience every time she is in front of a camera.
Though she made her debut with Abodh (1984), it was Tezaab (1988) that made her a star, in the true sense. She then starred in Ram Lakhan (1989), Parinda (1989), Kishen Kanhaiya (1990) and Prahaar (1991). She won her first Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in Dil (1990). She went on to star in Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994), Raja (1995) and Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997). All these films were highly successful at the box-office, with Beta, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and Dil Toh Pagal Hai winning her the Filmfare Awards for Best Actress. She delivered an amazing performance in Prakash Jha’s Mrityudand (1997) and with her portrayal of the courtesan Chandramukhi in Devdas (2002).
After a long sabbatical, she returned back with Aaja Nachle (2007) and received accolades for her performance in the film although the film didn’t do so well at the box-office.
She has also made her appearances in television shows like Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
In 2011, Madhuri shifted back from the US to Mumbai along with her family.
